This is my only favorite shot from my “Home” assignment for PH 108 at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
The assignment was to get three shots of things that tell the viewer something about ourselves, as well as showing them something about where/what home is for us.
Despite how incredible things have been for me since I got here, this place doesn’t feel like ‘Home’ to me yet. I have no family here, I don’t have all my things, and my room isn’t even decorated enough to really feel anything like home for me, but it is where I live. So this shot has a glimpse of where my Home REALLY is in seeing my Oregon Roots tattoo in the photo, but it also shows a little of where I am by showing my room inside my dorm.
It was my favorite, and it was my teacher’s favorite, and while there are ways I could have improved it, I wanted to post it and show you all how much progress I’ve made with my photography already.
Feel free to critique and/or comment with any feedback if you want, it’s why I’m in school, to learn from my photos and eventually learn to make even better ones.
